KAMLOOPS — Boaters who use Adams Lake this long weekend are being asked to avoid the south and east parts of the lake as the area is still dealing with a notable wildfire.
The Thompson Nicola Regional District says conservation officers and police will be patrolling the lake to enforce the evacuation orders and boaters should avoid Wildfire Service aircraft working in the area.
In addition, it says debris has been observed rolling down steep hills on the east side of the lake at the site of the Lower East Adams Lake wildfire.
The district says it’s prepared to work with the province to use emergency powers if necessary to close all access to protect public safety.
