Abbotsford Hospice raises over $80K at Holmberg Memorial Golf Classic

ABBOTSFORD — The Abbotsford Hospice Society relied on fantastic weather and the generosity of a multitude of sponsors, volunteers and golfers to raise over $80,000 during last week’s annual Holmberg Memorial Golf Classic at Ledgeview Golf Club in Abbotsford.

In a news release from the organization, Abbotsford Hospice says the Holmberg Memorial Golf Classic is an annual event organized by Abbotsford Hospice Society to honour the memory of Dave and Lee Holmberg and Dave Holmberg Jr.

This year’s tournament on Friday, July 28 surpassed all expectations, thanks to the remarkable support received from dedicated sponsors, volunteers, and golfers, raising $80,836.

“These funds are vital to AHS and will directly benefit the society’s programs, including palliative care andgrief support for children, youth, families, and adults in our community and the Fraser Valley with no financial barrier,” Abbotsford Hospice Society said in a news release. “This support enables us to continue to provide comfort and compassionate care to families during their most challenging times. We extend our deepest appreciation to all golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and our generous community who made this day a huge success. Your support makes a profound impact on the lives of those who need it most.”

Abbotsford Hospice Society operates the Holmberg House, a center where people within Abbotsford and the Fraser Valley come for palliative care and support during times of grief and loss. Holmberg House is a peaceful 10-bed facility that provides dignified end-of-life care for adults from age 19. AHS provides a variety of grief support programs for adults, youth, and children who have been affected by the death of a loved one. All bereavement and palliative services are offered with no financial barriers to families in Abbotsford and its surrounding.
