
Chilliwack firefighters contain flames in forested area of Little Mountain
CHILLIWACK — Firefighters with the Chilliwack Fire Department battled difficult terrain Saturday to get the upper hand on a potential interface fire.
The Chilliwack Fire Department says it was called to the north side of Little Mountain around 5:15 p.m. Saturday. 20 firefighters from three halls arrived to see smoke rising from trees.
Using handlines, they hiked in from Quarry Road for approximately 300 metres and found a fire burning in vegetation. When discovered, the fire was about 9 square metres in size. They were able to quickly stomp out the flames.
No cause of the fire was released however the fire department is asking the public to be vigilant around vegetation, parks and trails during these dry conditions.
