Families displaced following row house fire in Chilliwack
CHILLIWACK — Several families have been left without a home in the wake of a fire late Thursday night (Jul. 27) in Chilliwack.
In a news release, the Chilliwack Fire Department reports being called out to a 7-unit row housing complex in the 45000 block of Lewis Avenue at approximately 11:30 p.m.
They arrived to find flames and black smoke rising from the complex. Occupants had already escaped from the unit by the time crews arrived at the scene.
A total of 49 firefighters from five halls initially worked to tame the flames on the exterior of the building. They worked their way into an interior fire attack and were able to conduct a search inside, rescuing one family pet.
