Man involved in Watson Road ERT situation remains in custody

CHILLIWACK — The man involved in an ERT high-risk incident near Watson Road earlier this month remains in custody as he faces multiple charges for his alleged role in the forcible confinement of an individual.

Wyatt William Scott, 45, has been charged with a number of offences including forcible confinement, assault, and breaching his conditions. He reportedly made his first court appearance on Monday, July 24.

According to a statement from Sgt. Krista Vrolyk, media relations spokesperson for the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment, Chilliwack RCMP were called to the 45500 block of Watson Road near Watson Elementary Sunday morning, July 16 after receiving a report that an individual was allegedly being confined and held against their will, and an individual at the location had access to firearms.

Chilliwack RCMP and the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team responded and were able to quickly bring the victim to safety. A heavy police presence remained while police negotiated the arrest of the 45-year-old man and subsequently executed a search warrant.
