Sparkes Corn Barn opens for the summer; new building will sell ice cream and produce

CHILLIWACK — Good things are happening at Sparkes Corn Barn in Chilliwack.

Not only are its four locations in Chilliwack open and selling their non-GMO sweet corn, the local corn producer says a new building at the corner of Chilliwack River Road, Luckakuck Way and Prairie Central Road is under construction.

Under the name of Chilliwack Farm Produce, the new facility will sell fresh local produce and hard ice cream, and house a picnic area and a U-pick sunflower field. The opening date is still to be determined.

In the meantime, Sparkes Corn Barn says its locations in Chilliwack have now opened for the summer corn season, including Luckakuck Way (past Superstore heading towards Young Road), 7385 Vedder Road (7-11 on Vedder), 7970 Lickman Road (Flying J fuel stop), 46265 Prairie Central Road (Sparkes main barn), 53560 Popkum Road (Rancher’s Restaurant). Sparkes also has locations in Agassiz (1201 Highway 9) and Abbotsford (Abbotsford Shell on Whatcom Road and Delair Road/Sumas Way).
