UPDATE:  July 7, 1 p.m.  VANCOUVER — The Air Quality alert has ended because of cooler temperatures and favourable winds.

VANCOUVER — The Metro Vancouver Regional District has issued an Air Quality Advisory for parts of Metro Vancouver and the Central and Eastern regions of the Fraser Valley.

It says hot and sunny conditions combined with wildfire smoke are contributing to elevated ground-level ozone concentrations.

When the advisory was issued Thursday (Jul. 6) afternoon, the latest PM 2.5 daily rolling average was in the mid-level range of the province’s air quality index, but trending towards a poorer condition.
