CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack Fire and B.C. Emergency Health Services personnel responded to the intersection of Keith Wilson Road and Canterbury Avenue Wednesday morning after a cyclist collided with a vehicle.

The accident happened at about 8:25 a.m. Wednesday (July 5).

The cyclist could be seen on his back on a Canterbury Avenue lawn, just north of Keith Wilson Road, shortly after the collision, as several firefighters and paramedics rendered medical aid. He appeared to be moving a bit on the ground.

Nearby witnesses who live on Peach Road said the cyclist was alert and responsive and did not require cardiopulmonary resuscitation. A Peach Road neighbour called emergency dispatch to alert first responders to the accident.

According to scanner traffic, the cyclist was transported at 8:40 a.m. by ambulance to receive medical attention.

A Chilliwack resident who lives near the accident scene said the cyclist appeared to be OK, but had been a little banged up by the collision.

A resident named Jake McCann said a truck traveling east on Keith Wilson had turned left (northbound) onto Canterbury and the cyclist traveling west on Keith Wilson reportedly ran into the side, or back half, of the truck.
