Chilliwack non-profit that helps young families names new executive director
CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack-based Meadow Rose Family Help Center Society, which assists families with young children who are facing financial challenges, has named Jackie Kingma as its new executive director.
Kingma replaces Sheila Friesen, who recently retired as executive director of Meadow Rose Society, which was first founded in 2011 and later became a registered Canadian charity in 2013. The downtown Chilliwack charity provides essentials for children three and under in Chilliwack and Hope, and whose families are in financial crisis.
Kingma has been a resident of Chilliwack for over 20 years. She has spent much of her career and volunteer time working in education and hospice care. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership from Trinity Western University and is currently in the Masters of Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. Away from work, Kingma can be found spending time with her husband and three teenagers.
“You may have noticed a new face around the office!” Meadow Rose wrote on Facebook last week. “As our beloved Sheila has retired as Executive Director, we’d love to introduce Jackie, our new Executive Director of Meadow Rose Society! Jackie feels honoured to work alongside the volunteers and the board in our mission to compassionately support our community by helping children to have what they need to thrive. Please help us welcome her as she steps into this role. We are so excited to have her.”
