ABBOTSFORD — Police in Abbotsford have pulled a new driver off city streets after catching the driver speeding excessively.

In a weekend Tweet, the AbbyPD says the driver was clocked doing 102 km/h. The speed limit on the road is 50 km/h.

An excessive speeding ticket can bring significant consequences and heavy financial penalties with it. A driver who is spotted doing more than 40 km/h over the speed limit is subject to a minimum fine of $368 in addition to the cost of a ticket.

The driver may also be subject to having their vehicle impounded for a minimum seven days. They may also see their insurance premiums raised for three years and three penalty points will be added to their driving record.
