Abbotsford Police Department selects new media relations spokesperson

ABBOTSFORD — Effective Monday, June 5, Constable Artur Stele is the new media relations spokesperson for the Abbotsford Police Department.

Constable Stele officially replaces Sgt. Paul Walker, who held the role of media relations spokesperson for approximately two years. Sgt. Walker becomes the new sergeant-in-charge of the Abbotsford Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit.

“We’re excited to welcome Constable Art Stele as our new Media Relations Officer,” Abbotsford PD wrote on Twitter Monday morning. “Constable Stele has amassed experience in working in diverse settings and investigating a variety of files during his time on the road. All the best, Art.”

Illustrating the critical role that a media relations liaison can play, Abbotsford Police Chief Mike Serr said Sgt. Walker was a steady hand during the tumultuous floods of November 2021 that heavily impacted Abbotsford.

“Paul’s first days in media were during the flood and he ensured open and transparent communication,” Abbotsford Police Chief Mike Serr said on Facebook. “That never wavered during his tenure; a community builder.”
