CHILLIWACK — A medical clinic staffed by five family doctors and a pharmacy in the 8500 block of Young Road are closed today to in-person visits and service (Tuesday, May 16) due to an early morning fire at Hing Lung, a Chinese restaurant.

In an automated voice mail greeting, Chilliwack Mountain Medical advised its patients that it is closed following a fire next door at Hing Lung that prompted 30 firefighters and multiple fire engines to respond at about 3:30 a.m. early Tuesday morning. The restaurant itself suffered extensive damage, and the neighbouring businesses incurred some kind of limited damage.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, our clinic is closed today,” Chilliwack Mountain Medical said in its phone greeting when callers phoned 604-605-2516. “We apologize for any inconvenience. If this is a medical emergency, hang up and dial 911. If you are scheduled for a phone call appointment today, you will still be receiving your phone call at some point today. If you are scheduled for an in-person appointment today, our front staff will be reaching out to you with further instructions.”

Chilliwack Mountain Medical is staffed by Dr. Jacques Brussow, Dr. Jacobus Du Toit, Dr. Johan Boshoff, Dr. Daniel Botha, and Dr. Ettiene Roux.
