CHILLIWACK — The Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation wrote in an online newsletter Friday (May 5) that the breast health clinic at Chilliwack General Hospital is now fully funded for renos and equipment.

“Thank you for supporting improved health care in the Fraser Valley East. The gifts we have received from individuals, families, businesses and organizations have positively impacted healthcare in our communities,” Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation wrote online. “Thanks to the caring of people like you, we are now fully funded for the renovation and equipment of the breast health clinic at Chilliwack General Hospital, and for the purchase of the CT scanner for Mission Memorial Hospital.”

Good things are happening elsewhere in the Fraser Valley on the health care front. Patients have to leave Chilliwack and Abbotsford and travel elsewhere in order to get a pacemaker, but that’s about to change.

“Currently, pacemakers are not implanted at any facility in the Fraser Valley East, meaning people requiring a pacemaker must leave our area,” the foundation wrote online. “[We are] pleased to announce that the Pacemaker Implant Program at Abbotsford Regional Hospital, as part of the Fraser Health Authority Implantable Cardiac Electrical Device (ICED) Program, will be active by September 2023. We continue to work to improve health care in our communities.”
