City of Chilliwack seeks 150th anniversary art, offers $300 to artists
CHILLIWACK — In recognition of Chilliwack’s incorporation as a municipality in 1873, the city of Chilliwack is currently accepting submissions for street banners that embody the spirit of Chilliwack.
The city of Chilliwack wrote on social media Friday (Mar. 31) that it is actively seeking street banner renditions that recognize the uniqueness of the broader community and incorporate some level of diversity.
In 1873, the Township of Chilliwhack, as it was known back then, was registered as the third municipality to be incorporated in British Columbia.
The submitted artworks will be adjudicated by the Chilliwack Public Art Advisory Committee, which is tasked to collaborate with the selected artist(s) before a recommendation moves forward to mayor and council for approval.
