Impaired drivers pulled from Abbotsford roads over the weekend

ABBOTSFORD — Impaired drivers continue to be removed from Abbotsford streets despite repeated attempts to educate drivers about the inherent risks.

The Abbotsford police department says its front-line officers pulled 11 drivers off roads over the weekend in Abbotsford. Seven of the drivers failed their breath tests and were issued 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions.

According to ICBC, impaired driving remains a leading contributor to car crash fatalities in British Columbia. On average, 64 British Columbians are killed annually in crashes involving an impaired driver.

It suggests drivers consider planning ahead and use public transportation including taxis or ridesharing companies.
