ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford police are reminding motorists that it doesn’t pay to be reckless behind the wheel and drive beyond the posted speed limit on city streets.

In a social media post, police say a vehicle was pulled over this week in Abbotsford and the driver was handed fines for hundreds of dollars.

“AbbyPD frontline officers were conducting speed enforcement on Downes Rd.,” states the post. It goes on to say the driver “was noted passing on a double solid line & travelling 60 km/h over the posted speed limit.”

Once pulled over, the driver was issued fines in the amount of $477. Police also impounded the vehicle for 7 days. An image in the social media post reveals the driver was clocked at 110 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
