One of the most important things about complex care is that it is person-centred. This means that whether a person needs occupational therapy, overdose prevention, or culturally appropriate supports like access to Indigenous support workers, it will be provided in a program that is comprehensive and specific to their particular set of needs. 

We want people to thrive in Chilliwack, and I’m glad that this will provide an opportunity for people who experience particularly difficult challenges to have stable housing and work towards their goals while staying close to the people in their community. 

This housing project will be delivered by Fraser Health in partnership with BC Housing and the Phoenix Drug and Alcohol Recovery and Education Centre. My hat goes off to the support workers who advocate so fiercely for their clients, and provide such great care with so much compassion. 

These new housing spaces are in addition to 8 more complex care spaces coming to the Fraser Valley in Maple Ridge. Our government is working to provide the best care possible for people and will continue to work towards bringing complex care housing to more people across the province so that they can have stable housing and achieve their goals.
