Road surface problems lead to closure of newly developed Marshall Road Connector

ABBOTSFORD — The City of Abbotsford is closing a portion of the newly opened Marshall Road Connector. It says some settlement is occurring, leading to dips in the road surface. It says it is closing the road for safety reasons.

The area affected is the Connector on King Road from Ross Road to east of the gravel operations near Bradner Road.

With the road closed, crews will be able to do a further assessment of the roadway to determine the issue behind the settling. No date has been set to reopen the road.

The closure is effective immediately although the Marshall Road extension from Ross Road to Mt. Lehman Road will remain open.

The Connector was opened to the public Saturday, October 29. Considered a strategic priority for City Council since 2016, it is meant to add an additional east-west corridor between Abbotsford, Langley and Surrey.
