Violent man wanted by Abbotsford police has been arrested following an alert citizen’s tip

ABBOTSFORD — George Charles’ time on the run is over.

Less than 24 hours after the Abbotsford Police Department disseminated a public safety bulletin Tuesday afternoon seeking the whereabouts of a violent suspect, police got their man.

Abby PD posted to Twitter Wednesday (Nov. 2) at around noon that 30-year-old George Charles was arrested by its patrol officers.

“Thanks to an alert citizen for contacting the police after observing Mr. Charles walking within the community,” Abby PD wrote on Twitter, followed by the hashtag of “Strength in Community.”

Charles had been wanted on several counts of violence, including robbery, assault causing bodily harm, resisting or obstructing a police officer, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

It is not known if George Charles remains in custody or is out on bail.

Charles was previously described as 5’9″, 181 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has glasses in a booking/wanted photo released by the Abbotsford Police Department and has long braided hair that extend to near or past his shoulders.
