Veterans banners now on display in Chilliwack ahead of Remembrance Day
CHILLIWACK — Ahead of solemn Remembrance Day festivities next week, Chilliwack residents will have a chance to appreciate the service and sacrifice through the presence of four local veterans banners.
Mayor Ken Popove and Councillors Bud Mercer and Jason Lum were on hand Thursday morning (Nov. 3) for the formal introduction of the exemplary banners honouring local veterans, including Sgt. Jonathan Tremblay, who joined the ceremony with his trusted dog.
Sgt. Tremblay was deployed to Afghanistan in 2004, 2007 and 2011, and in Haiti in 2010. He served in the Royal 22nd Regiment in the Canadian Army.
The Streets of Valour project showcases the valiant service of four local veterans who proudly served in four conflicts.
