CHILLIWACK — Mounties are crediting a high-quality video surveillance system for helping them to quickly arrest a bandit.

In a news release, RCMP investigators say they were able to identify the suspect in a break-and-enter at a downtown business last Wednesday, after viewing the high-resolution video from the security system in the building. The 52-year-old Chilliwack man was arrested later that day.

The break-in occurred shortly after 1 a.m. October 19 at a business in the 45900 block of Wellington Avenue. The man entered the store, grabbed some merchandise and fled on foot.

The suspect has been released pending his first appearance in court.
