Rogers reinstates service, Interac e-transfers resume
CHILLIWACK — Telecom giant Rogers Communications announced just after 4 a.m. Saturday morning that it has reinstated service for the vast majority of its customers, paving the way for critical e-commerce initiatives like Interac e-transfer to resume.
“Following our previous updates, we have now restored services for the vast majority of our customers and our technical teams are working hard to ensure that the remaining customers are back online as quickly as possible,” Rogers said on its Rogers Helps Twitter page Saturday morning. “As our services come back online and traffic volumes return to normal, some customers may experience a delay in regaining full service.”
Meanwhile, Rogers President and CEO Tony Staffieri issued an apology late Friday for his company’s network outage that adversely impacted commercial transactions across Canada and shut down service on the Rogers, Fido, and Rogers for Business platforms.
“I want to sincerely apologize for this service interruption and the impact it is having on people from coast to coast,” Staffieri said in a statement. “We take that responsibility very seriously and today we let you down. We can and will do better.”
