Road trip tips for safe driving this long weekend
CHILLIWACK — With the Canada Day long weekend here, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is cautioning travellers to plan ahead and practice safe driving.
According to a statement released Wednesday, delays can be expected on the Coquihalla Highway due to damage from the November 2021 atmospheric river and ongoing reconstruction work.
In order to avoid gridlock, drivers are urged to avoid travelling during peak times or consider using Highway 3 as an alternative route between the Interior and Lower Mainland.
The statement also made suggestions for trouble-free travelling, including ensuring the vehicle has a full tank of gas or charged battery, checking engine oil and washer fluid, and having a spare tire on hand.
