CHILLIWACK – Two unidentified Chilliwack men were arrested last week for their role in drug trafficking, leading to the confiscation of several firearms and a stash of cash and illicit narcotics.

The Chilliwack Royal Canadian Mounted Police executed arrests and search warrants that eventually led to the arrest of two Chilliwack men, ages 42 and 33, for drug trafficking related charges on Tuesday, June 21.

The arrests resulted in two search warrants and an ensuing seizure of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine, a large quantity of cash, a loaded handgun, ammunition, silencers and additional firearms.

The arrests and search warrants were carried out by the Chilliwack RCMP drug section. The complex investigation, as RCMP deemed it, involved the execution of search warrants located in the 8100 block of Young Road and the 9000 block of Garden Drive.

The 8100 block of Young Road is located just south of Elements Casino, whereas the 9000 block of Garden Drive is located south of First Avenue and east of Young Road.

During the search warrants, police seized large quantities of suspected illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, scales and cash in addition to firearms, which consisted of two handguns and four long guns.

“The Chilliwack RCMP remain committed to targeting those responsible for trafficking fentanyl and other illicit drugs in our community,” said Sgt. Krista Vrolyk, media spokesperson for the Chilliwack RCMP. “The guns seized during this investigation posed a threat to public safety. We will continue to work diligently to keep our community safe by taking illegal drugs and guns off of our streets.”

Chilliwack RCMP urge residents with any information on drug trafficking activities to call the Chilliwack RCMP Drug Unit at 604-792-4611. People wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
