Lifelong Abbotsford resident announces run for school board
ABBOTSFORD – Lifelong Abbotsford resident Benjamin Mehrer will run for a seat on the Abbotsford Board of Education in this fall’s municipal election.
Mehrer, who ran in the October 2025 by-election to fill former trustee Korky Neufeld’s seat, works as a market people manager for a local restaurant chain where he helps develop more than 400 employees across Abbotsford and Aldergrove through leadership, training, and mentorship.
He says the future of the community depends on investing in today’s students, and believes schools should prepare young people not only to graduate, but to become confident, resilient, and engaged members of the community.
“Our schools do far more than teach math or reading,” said Mehrer. “They help shape future leaders, entrepreneurs, tradespeople, healthcare professionals, artists, and neighbours. Every student deserves the opportunity to discover what success looks like for them.”
