Born and raised in Abbotsford, Mehrer attended local public schools from kindergarten through graduation before earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of the Fraser Valley.

As the first person in his family to graduate from university, he says he understands firsthand the transformative power of education and the lasting impact that teachers, mentors, and supportive communities can have on a young person’s future.

He serves on the board of directors for Archway Community Services and has dedicated much of his career to creating opportunities for young people through education, employment, and community involvement.

His campaign will focus on the premise that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, every voice deserves to be heard, and every opportunity should be afforded to enable students to discover their path.

Whether that path leads to university, the skilled trades, entrepreneurship, the arts, healthcare, technology, or another career, Mehrer believes schools should help each student build the confidence, knowledge, and skills to succeed.

“Success looks different for everyone, and each success is worth celebrating.”

His campaign themes will consist of five key principles, including:

• Supporting student success and achievement

• Making responsible financial decisions that keep students first

• Strengthening student mental health and well-being

• Building stronger relationships within the community

• Preparing students for a lifetime of success

“My commitment is simple,” Mehrer said. “I will listen carefully, work collaboratively, and make decisions that reflect the best interests of students and our community. I believe each student deserves to feel they belong, every parent deserves to be heard, and every decision should help move our schools forward.”

Over the coming months, Mehrer says he looks forward to meeting community members, across Abbotsford, and hearing their experiences, understanding their priorities, and earning their trust.
