HATZIC (MISSION) – Police in Mission say they issued tickets to two separate groups of people after they engaged in illegal shooting activities in Mission earlier this month, with Surrey residents involved in both incidents.

Mission RCMP report that a concerned resident contacted them on Wednesday evening, June 17 about illegal shooting about six kilometres up Lost Creek Forest Service Road in Hatzic. Police responded and located a group of males ages 21-24 from cities like Surrey, Delta, Langley and Powell River, associated to a grey 2024 Dodge Durango. The group had in their possession two shotguns and one rifle.

The group received a ticket for discharging a firearm in a no-shooting area, and were directed to retrieve their spent ammunition and to leave the area.

A second incident unfolded on Saturday, June 20, when another member of the public reported hearing shooting in the same area. Mission RCMP and the BC Conservation Officer Service attended and found a group of six males and females from Surrey, Delta, Abbotsford and Dawson actively shooting shotguns. Tickets were issued to the two firearm owners, and the group was directed to leave the area.
