Update: Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after accident in Abbotsford Saturday

UPDATE: AbbyPD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker says a motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital after suffering injuries from a motor vehicle crash at Whatcom Road and South Parallel Road.

Sgt. Walker says emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 2:06 p.m. Saturday and arrived on scene to find a motorcycle and an SUV involved in a collision within the intersection.

He says the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital. The occupants of the SUV were shaken but were not injured.

The investigation remains in its early stages, with assistance from Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) personnel.

Sgt. Walker says the intersection of Whatcom Road and South Parallel Road will remain closed for several hours as investigators process the scene.

Whatcom Road is closed in both directions between Nelles Road and Highway 1, and South Parallel Road is closed between Cole Road and Angus Campbell Road.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash camera footage to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.

ABBOTSFORD – Police in Abbotsford say a serious collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle has closed an Abbotsford intersection Saturday afternoon.

Sgt. Paul Walker says AbbyPD patrol officers are currently on scene of a serious collision at the intersection of Whatcom Road and South Parallel Road involving a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle.

Sgt. Walker says the intersection is closed in all directions and is expected to remain shut down for several hours.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.

The Pulse Point app indicates at least three ambulances were notified about the accident and dispatched, while a fourth ambulance, 280A3, an air ambulance, is en route as of 3:12 p.m.
