Multiple extortion charges laid following shooting at Abbotsford business: AbbyPD

ABBOTSFORD – Police in Abbotsford now say a 22-year-old man is facing additional criminal charges for his alleged role in an extortion-related shooting at a business on King Road in Abbotsford in December 2025.

According to a statement from Abbotsford PD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker, frontline officers were dispatched to the 31000 block of King Road on Dec. 17, 2025, for the report of a shooting at a business.

Sgt. Walker says a suspect vehicle was located a short time later and a 22-year-old man was subsequently charged with unlawfully discharging a firearm in connection with the incident.

In the ensuing months, AbbyPD’s Internal Extortion Task Force detectives, operating under Operation Community Shield, continued to advance the investigation. As a result of their ongoing work, 22-year-old Gursewak Singh has now been charged with the following additional offences relating to the December 2025 incident.

The new charges now include:

• Extortion using a firearm

• Possession of a restricted firearm

• Possession of a firearm without a licence

• Possession of a firearm knowing It Is unauthorized

• Occupying a vehicle knowing a firearm Is present

During the Abbotsford investigation, Sgt. Walker says AbbyPD detectives worked closely with investigators from the Surrey Police Service (SPS), sharing evidence obtained during the arrest of Gursewak Singh to support two separate SPS investigations.

Today, SPS has announced additional charges against Gursewak Singh in connection with those two Surrey investigations.
