CHILLIWACK – A dirt bike rider was transported to hospital Sunday evening after suffering an injury from a motor vehicle incident in the Chilliwack River Valley backcountry.

According to a statement from Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener, officers were out doing proactive ATV patrols when they came across a youth who was suffering from a lower body injury as a result of a collision on their dirtbike.

The accident happened on Tamihi Forest Service Road, Corporal Kiener said.

According to a statement from B.C. Emergency Health Services, paramedics received a call at 5:02 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, about a motor vehicle incident involving a dirt bike in the area of Liumchen Creek and Little Tamihi forest service roads.

One ambulance with advanced care paramedics and one ambulance with primary care paramedics responded.

Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to one patient, who was transported to hospital in serious condition.

The accident location appears to have been south of the Chilliwack River, and generally southeast of Thompson Regional Park.
