Maple Ridge Mounties investigate marine incident near Port Haney Wharf involving adult male
MAPLE RIDGE – First responders in Maple Ridge were called to an area near the Port Haney Wharf Monday morning after getting a report that an adult male may have fallen into the Fraser River and did not resurface.
According to a statement from police, Maple Ridge RCMP members were called to a marine incident in the 22400 block of River Road at about 10:35 a.m. Monday morning, Apr. 27. Officers searched the surrounding area and did not observe anyone in distress in the water or surfacing on the waterline.
Maple Ridge RCMP says it has deployed the detachment’s boat and is being assisted by personnel from BC RCMP Air Services, Maple Ridge Fire & Rescue Services, and BC Emergency Health Services. Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue crews have also been deployed to assist, while the BC RCMP Underwater Recovery Team has been notified.
Police investigators are also speaking with numerous individuals on scene to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
