CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Fire Department and Chilliwack RCMP were dispatched Friday afternoon (Dec. 29) to Industrial Way east of Old Orchard Road after a truck burst into flames.

According to a tip from a longtime Chilliwack resident who wished to remain anonymous, at least two engines from the Chilliwack Fire Dept. were dispatched along with a single RCMP officer after a GMC or Chevy Silverado-looking pickup caught fire at approximately 1 p.m. Friday (Dec. 29).

The cause of the fire is not immediately known, but there were visible burn marks to the driver’s side of the truck as well as the front engine compartment. The vehicle could be a total writeoff with ICBC unless the tires or other parts are worth salvaging.

In a second picture, a man wearing an orange trades vest can be seen attending to the front of the truck as other vehicles drive by.

It’s not known if there were any injuries. A pool of fire suppressant, and/or water, could be seen parallel to Industrial Way.

According to scanner dispatch transmissions reported by Kelsey Brown, the pickup truck was fully engulfed in flames. Engines 1 (Cheam Avenue fire hall), 4 (South Sumas fire hall) and 6 (Greendale) all responded to the pickup truck fire.

A tow truck arrived to remove the vehicle from Industrial Way.
