UPDATE: 68-year-old man confirmed deceased after Monday morning shooting in Abbotsford

UPDATE #2, 2:30 P.M. MONDAY: AbbyPD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker has confirmed that a 68-year-old man died as a result of today’s shooting.

AbbyPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in the 31300 block of Ridgeview Drive. On arrival, officers secured the area and confirmed the incident was isolated to a single parked vehicle on the roadway.

Inside the vehicle, they discovered a 68-year-old man suffering from life-threatening injuries. Despite lifesaving medical efforts of first responders, the man succumbed to his injuries.

No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is still in its early stages, and additional resources have been deployed to support efforts in uncovering the full circumstances surrounding this incident.

The Abbotsford Police Department’s Major Crime Unit is transitioning the investigation to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), which will be providing further updates as the investigation advances. ABBOTSFORD — Police in Abbotsford say they are currently on scene after a shooting happened Monday morning on Ridgeview Drive, prompting three nearby schools to undergo a shelter-in-place.

AbbyPD say the shooting happened at 9:22 a.m. in the 31300 block of Ridgeview Drive. One adult male was shot. As a precaution, police say three nearby schools were briefly placed under a shelter-in-place protocol. No students were harmed or directly impacted, police said.

The incident occurred on the street and remains an active investigation. Police say additional details will be shared as they become available.

A significant police presence will remain in the area throughout the day supporting the ongoing investigation, AbbyPD said in a social media post.

Sgt. Paul Walker told Fraser Valley Today that he have more information out in the next hour or so.

The 31300 block of Ridgeview Drive is west of Clearbrook Road in West Abbotsford.
