Lumber truck sets on fire along Highway 3 Friday

HOPE — The Hope Fire Department has successfully stifled a semi fire before it could spread into a forested area along the highway Friday afternoon (Sep. 19).

A total of eight firefighters and officers responded to the incident on the shoulder of Highway 3, near Exit 173. The lumber truck’s cab had been fully involved in a fire that was extending into the adjacent wildland.

Crews conducted an aggressive attack, containing the fire to the cab before extinguishing it.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire, and the cause remains unknown.
