Witnesses sought in fatal crash Sunday that claimed the life of an Agassiz woman

CHILLIWACK — A spokesperson for the BC Highway Patrol is appealing to the public for more witnesses and dash cam footage following a single-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a 74-year-old woman from Agassiz on Sunday.

According to a statement from BC Highway Patrol spokesperson Corporal Michael McLaughlin, a grey Ford Focus was travelling eastbound on Highway 1 approaching Prest Road Sunday afternoon, Aug. 17, at approximately 12:50 p.m., when it crashed and rolled over into a ditch. The 74-year-old Agassiz woman who was the driver and lone occupant of the Ford Focus died at the scene.

“At this early stage of the investigation, there are no indications of overt criminality,” says Corporal McLaughlin. “Police have already spoken to witnesses, but we would like to find more to ensure the investigation is appropriately thorough.”
