Environment Canada issues rainfall warning for Abbotsford, Mission

FRASER VALLEY — Environment Canada is forecasting significant precipitation for parts of the Fraser Valley starting Friday (Aug. 15).

According to a social media post from the City of Mission, the national weather agency has issued a rainfall warning for parts of the Fraser Valley encompassing Abbotsford and Mission.

Residents can expect up to 50 mm of rain, 80 mm of rain in higher terrain, and heavy rain at times with poor visibility.

There’s also the chance there will be sudden rises in creeks and rivers.

Motorists are asked to watch for water pooling on roads and drive carefully to avoid hydroplaning, and to give yourself extra travel time and keep headlights on in poor visibility.
