Abbotsford motorcyclist, 40, clocked at absurd speed on the Sea to Sky – while being impaired
SEA TO SKY — A 40-year-old Abbotsford man wasn’t exactly thinking when police caught him allegedly speeding at more than double the posted speed on the Sea to Sky highway last week – all while being impaired.
According to a statement from BC Highway Patrol spokesperson Corporal Michael McLaughlin, a BCHP BMW motorcycle clocked an Abbotsford man driving a Suzuki motorcycle at 196 km/h in an 80 zone on HIghway 99 near Furry Creek.
But it only got worse for the Fraser Valley resident. He blew two samples into an approved screening device, both resulted in a fail reading.
The driver received a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition, an excessive speeding ticket, and got his ride impounded for 30 days.
