CHILLIWACK — Two new businesses set to open soon in Chilliwack include an indoor playground for kids and a bubble tea franchise.

Play Abby Chilliwack has set up shop inside suites 206 and 207 at 44921 Commercial Court, near Petro Canada on Evans Road, north of the Evans roundabout.

Play Abby, with an existing location at 5-2043 Abbotsford Way in Abbotsford, describes itself as a premiere indoor play park. On July 17, the company posted on Instagram that its Chilliwack location was coming along nicely.

“Our brand new toddler playground is almost ready, and we couldn’t wait to show you!” Play Abby said. The company has not said when it will open its Chilliwack location, which will be situated next to Fraser Valley Gymnastix in their recently opened venue.

Over on Yale Road, a new bubble tea business is coming to downtown Chilliwack. Branded signage bearing the name “Gong cha” now appears in the retail storefront outside 46135 Yale Road.

The company was founded in 2006 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Gong Cha translates to “tribute tea for the emperor.” The store features fresh tea brewed throughout the day, pearls (bubbles) freshly prepared, internationally sourced tea and what it calls “strict quality controls” for all ingredients.

“Gong cha is known across the world for its signature Milk Foam. Its creamy, sweet and savory flavor balance and whipped texture make it the perfect complement to our freshly brewed teas,” the company’s website said. “Our delicious milk foam is hand-crafted for each customer and made from the freshest milk and highest quality, signature ingredients.”

A City of Chilliwack building permit is affixed to the outside of the bubble tea store.

A new ramen and bubble tea business could be built inside a vacant storefront on Yale Road, but currently has no orange building permit sticker affixed to the outside of 101-46126 Yale Road, part of District 1881. The storefront was once home to Bricklayer Brewing before it announced its closure in January 2025.
