ABBOTSFORD — Nearly 5,000 residential customers lost power Tuesday afternoon in east Abbotsford, Sumas Mountain and the surrounding areas, on a day when temperatures soared well above 30 degrees Celsius.

According to BC Hydro’s online dashboard, a downed tree across hydro lines is to blame for a massive outage that started at 1:57 p.m. Tuesday.
