LYTTON — Canada’s weather agency has now issued a heat warning for parts of southern B.C., ranging from Fraser Canyon and Howe Sound to East and Inland Vancouver Island.

Temperatures in the Canyon from Lillooet to Lytton are expected to reach a maximum between 35 and 37 C from today (Aug. 10) to Tuesday (Aug. 12).

“Check on family, friends and neighbours, who are at higher risk, particularly if they live alone, to make sure they have a cool space,” wrote Environment Canada. “Never leave susceptible people, particularly children, or pets inside a parked vehicle.”

Heat warnings are issued when temperature or humidity conditions pose a higher risk of illness, such as heat stroke or exhaustion.
