City of Abbotsford taking nominations for three community awards

ABBOTSFORD — The City of Abbotsford is looking to honour hard-working citizens with three annual civic recognition awards.

Nominations are now open for this year’s Order of Abbotsford, Community Champion Achievement Award and Community Recognition Award.

“These awards honour individuals and/or groups who have made exceptional contributions to the community, achieved significant lifetime accomplishments, or have demonstrated outstanding service community service,” wrote the City.

For outstanding achievements in a range of services, including culture, business and sports, recipients of the Order of Abbotsford will have their names recorded in the Merit Book maintained by the Office of the Mayor.

Names of Abbotsford residents and groups who have accomplished noteworthy deeds or received broader recognition in areas such as academia, arts, and culture are encouraged for a Community Champion Achievement Award.

Lastly, the Community Recognition Award is presented to an individual or group that has made a significant contribution to the community.

Nominations can be submitted online or in person at City Hall until September 5.

Recipients are set to be recognized at a ceremony in the fall.
