LANGLEY — Mounties in Langley now say a 25-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with an incident in which a woman was found in distress suffering from severe burns last weekend.

According to a statement from Langley RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, police responded to a woman in distress last Saturday, July 12 in the 20300 block of Fraser Highway in Langley. When frontline officers arrived, they found a 33-year-old woman suffering from severe burns. She was immediately transported to a local area hospital for urgent medical treatment. Police suspect the assault was targeted.

At the time, Sgt. Sharoom said, “This does not appear to be a random act. We believe the victim was deliberately exposed to an unknown substance, resulting in serious burns consistent with an intentional act.”

After an extensive investigation, police confirmed the incident took place at the transit bus loop near 204 Street and Logan Avenue.

On Tuesday, July 15, front-line officers located and arrested 25-year-old Samantha Elizabeth Florence Hall in connection with the alleged assault. Hall has since been charged with aggravated assault and remains in custody pending her next court appearance.

“Officers from our Serious Crime Unit worked tirelessly for the past several days to advance this investigation,” said Sgt. Sharoom. “Conventional police techniques played a key role in moving this case forward. Our investigation into the circumstances leading up to this serious crime remains ongoing.
