AGASSIZ — After what seemed like a quiet, uneventful month of September, an inmate assault has been reported at the maximum-security federal prison west of Agassiz.

Kent Institution reported yesterday (Sept. 20) that an inmate sustained injuries from an assault on Thursday, September 15, according to a news release from the Correctional Service of Canada.

The injured inmate was evaluated by staff members and transported to an outside hospital to receive treatment. The inmate has since returned to the custody of CSC.

No staff members or other inmates were injured during this incident. The assailant has been identified and the appropriate actions have been taken. The CSC did not explain what those consequences involve.
