CHILLIWACK — Multiple Chilliwack Fire Department units were called for a fire at a truck and diesel repair business just off Yale Road Monday evening (Apr. 7) in the city’s industrial sector.

According to multiple social media posts and witness descriptions, firefighters were called to the 7900 block of Aitken Road for the report of a fire, believed to be at TDC Truck & Diesel Repair, sometime around 7 p.m.

Pictures in a Chilliwack-area Facebook group showed bright flames and thick black smoke billowing from what appeared to be a dump truck on fire.

A Facebook commenter named Tara Lanyon said, “TDC Truck repair had a truck on fire in their yard, fire dept. is on scene, owner has been called.” Another Facebook commenter named Ashley Durance said smoke from the fire could be seen several kilometres away in Promontory.

Firefighters told dispatch at approximately 7:20 p.m. that the fire had been struck and they were going into overhaul.

One witness told Fraser Valley Today it didn’t appear fire had spread to the nearby business.
