Langley RCMP says schools, daycares in Langley also threatened

LANGLEY — A Langley RCMP spokesperson says it has received multiple calls about about an email circulating online that alludes to threats of violence targeting schools and daycares in the Fraser Valley.

According to a statement from Langley RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, Langley RCMP received several calls on Sunday, Apr. 6 about the widely circulated email that claims there will be violence directed at schools in both Langley and Abbotsford.

Sgt. Sharoom says the email, which appears to have been sent to various recipients, contains concerning language alleging potential acts of violence.

“We are closely working with the Abbotsford Police Department to thoroughly investigate these reported threats. At this time, there is no information to indicate that the threat is credible,” said Sgt. Sharoom.

Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to contact their local police agency, whether it’s Langley (604-532-3200), Abbotsford (604-859-5225) or Chilliwack (604-792-4611).

A Fraser Valley resident told Fraser Valley Today that Langley RCMP reportedly beefed up its presence around local schools Monday morning, in response to the alleged threats. There were RCMP members stationed around, or near, several schools at one point.
