CHILLIWACK — Exasperated by the presence of unsightly vehicles that get dumped along Chilliwack Lake Road or nearby forest service roads, Chilliwack cleanup volunteer Ross Aikenhead says yet another abandoned motor home has been located in the Chilliwack River Valley.

Aikenhead, who devotes several hours each week to pinpointing and cleaning up messes in Chilliwack or Hope, says the motor home was recently discovered dumped.

There is unfettered access to the inside of the motorhome where junk and other personal effects appear, according to pictures provided by him. One of the door panels to the vehicle is missing, allowing anyone to access the abandoned recreational vehicle.

Aikenhead doesn’t believe the motor home was stolen.

However, some kind of yellow caution tape appears around and underneath the vehicle.

Aikenhead says the Upper Fraser Valley RCMP detachment in Chilliwack has been notified about the abandoned motor home, which is located on a forest service road in the backcountry.

At last count, Aikenhead has enumerated well over a dozen encampments on unceded Crown land east of the Vedder Bridge and petitioned provincial authorities to take action on enforcing illegal encampments, some of which produce untold amounts of junk and debris.
