Nearly 2,000 without power in Hope, Fraser Canyon

EASTERN FRASER VALLEY — Nearly 2,000 customers in parts of Hope and the Fraser Canyon are without power Monday afternoon.

According to BC Hydro’s dashboard, 1,939 customers in Laidlaw, Ruby Creek, Katz, downtown Hope, as well as smaller unincorporated Fraser Canyon communities like Haig, Choate and Dogwood Valley, even stretching as far north as Yale, have been without power since 1:32 p.m.

Crews are on-site. Hydro’s website was last updated at 2:17 p.m.

The cause is under investigation. Weather is not likely a factor as there haven’t been fierce winds in the eastern Fraser Valley Monday afternoon.
