Man suspected of 3rd DUI in nearly 3 years caught after trying to flee from police: Abbotsford PD

ABBOTSFORD — Police in Abbotsford say a 52-year-old man has been arrested for impaired driving, his third offence in as many years, during an incident Monday morning (Feb. 10) in which he tried to escape from police.

The incident happened at 9 a.m. Monday morning. As a result, police say the man’s class 1 driver’s license has been now been suspended, and the unidentified man will now be required to attend court.

Police say they have removed 135 impaired drivers from Abbotsford-area roads in the past 41 days alone.

“Despite the penalties and consequences, impaired driving remains a persistent issue,” AbbyPD wrote online. “Road safety must be a priority for everyone who gets behind the wheel of a Motor Vehicle. Our officers will continue to conduct enforcement with a zero-tolerance approach.”
