City of Chilliwack mandates new rules for Adopt a Park program
CHILLIWACK — The City of Chilliwack plans to introduce new reporting requirements for volunteers involved in its Adopt a Park and Adopt a Trail programs.
In an email sent to its database of volunteers last Friday (Jan. 24), the City of Chilliwack says it will implement a more streamlined process in conjunction with its ongoing efforts to improve its internal records and meet the growing demand for park adoptions.
To ensure that parks are being consistently cared for, the City of Chilliwack will now request quarterly clean-up reports from all participants. The city plans to keep track of these quarterly submissions so that parks receive the care and attention necessary to maintain them accordingly. Participants will be receiving quarterly reminders via email moving forward.
Participants were already expected to complete a minimum of four clean-ups per year, but the requirement wasn’t necessarily enforced like it will be starting this year. Groups that don’t maintain this requirement could forfeit their adopted area or section.
