LANGLEY — Langley RCMP issued 120 speeding tickets during a targeted enforcement campaign following numerous complaints from residents about speeding in local communities.

The campaign was conducted over the holidays, between December 15 and January 6. It focused on both the City of Langley and the Township of Langley.

During the campaign, officers issued 63 tickets for speeding in school or playground zones, 49 for speeding in municipalities, and eight for excessive speeding. Drivers caught exceeding the limit by at least 41 km/h faced mandatory seven-day vehicle impoundments.

On January 7, one day after the campaign, officers stopped two drivers traveling 112 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. Both were issued excessive speed tickets and had their vehicles impounded for seven days.

“We all have a role to play when it comes to making our roads and communities safer, so please slow down and drive responsibly,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP. “Remember, road safety is life safety.”
