Mailboxes stolen, robbed and dumped in Mission

MISSION — Mission RCMP are investigating after three stolen community mailboxes were found dumped and pried open, with their contents stolen.

Police were first notified on Saturday (Jan. 11) morning about two Canada Post mailboxes abandoned near Draper Street and Cemetery Avenue in Mission. Investigators determined the boxes had been stolen from the Riverside Street area in Abbotsford.

Shortly afterward, officers recovered a third mailbox along Tyler Street in Mission, which had been taken from Machell Street.

Mission RCMP confirmed all three boxes had been forced open, and mail from inside had been stolen.

Authorities are asking residents in the impacted areas to review any security video from the last 24 hours for suspicious vehicles or activity and to report any findings to police.

Anyone noticing tampering or missing community mailboxes should contact Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161. Residents who suspect they are missing mail are advised to notify Canada Post at 1-866-607-6301.
